Because The Lord of the Rings is a fantasy epic, it's no surprise that it's filled with creative fights with all sorts of monstrous creatures. But the story is filled with something else - talking. Like, a lot of talking.

Even though The Two Towers culminates in a siege of epic proportions, the novel has very little action up until that point.

Even though The Two Towers is a fantastic book, the film would've been a bit of a slog if it had zero action sequences for the first two hours. Because of this, Jackson started the movie with a bang by showing Gandalf's battle with the Balrog (which is only briefly mentioned in the book).

He also included a brand-new scene at the midway point of our heroes battling Warg-riding Orcs. Because the Wargs weren't in the novel (they do appear in The Hobbit), Tolkien fans were surprised and pleased to see these monstrous wolves show up.

This scrap isn't very long but it injects some amazing visuals, funny moments from Gimli, and a heartbreaking moment where Aragorn is seemingly killed. (Also, the way Legolas leaps onto his horse is freaking awesome.)
