Lord Of The Rings: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The Elves

2. Orlando Bloom Got Rinsed On Set

With a film shoot that last almost 300 days, involving hundreds of stunts and huge action sequences, people were bound to get hurt. Sean Astin split his foot open on a shard of glass, Dominic Monaghan received a nasty splinter, and Viggo Mortenson famously broken his toe - that's not to mention all the stunt performers who injured themselves to bring this movie to life. But no injury was as bad as the one sustained by the elf prince Legolas... , at least according to Orlando Bloom.

While shooting for the Two Towers, Bloom fell off his horse but was unfortunate to have Gimli's stunt double land on top of him. The tumble resulted in a trip to the hospital and cracked rib. Painful stuff. His fellow cast members were understandably concerned, but after time they got tired of Bloom milking his injury for sympathy. It all made for some good-nature, on set rinsing, however.

You'd think a character who can run up falling stones could handle a little tumble off a horse...
