Maleficent: 10 Other Disney Villains Who Deserve Their Own Movies

2. The Queen Of Hearts - Alice In Wonderland

The Queen of Hearts is one of the most unusual villains Disney have used over the years. Adapted from the original Alice in Wonderland books, the movie version is just as insane, ruling over Wonderland with regular mood swings that inevitably lead to someone being beheaded. Little is known of this character, other than that she is married to the diminutive King of Hearts and enjoys the occasional game of croquet. An origin movie would be incredible if it explored the Queen of Hearts background in more detail, uncovering how she became so mad in the first place. It's hard to imagine what her upbringing would have been like, but with the right script, an attempt to unravel this could provide a fascinating insight into both her character and the world of Wonderland in general. As it is so surreal, literally anything could happen and this makes a Queen of Hearts origin movie one of the most exciting prospects on this list if handled right. To succeed here though, the scriptwriters would need to balance set pieces that homage the original books and movie with bizarre new details that seamlessly fit with the tone established in the original animated film. Dream Casting: Helena Bonham Carter Despite the high box office takings Disney received for the live action Alice In Wonderland a few years back, there were problems with the film in terms of script and direction that need to be addressed for the upcoming sequel that's already been confirmed. Helena Bonham Carter's performance was never an issue though, as she shone in the role of the Red Queen. A prequel origin movie focused primarily around her character could work brilliantly and Carter definitely has the star power to carry a film of that stature.
