Maleficent: 10 Other Disney Villains Who Deserve Their Own Movies

4. Captain Hook - Peter Pan

As one of the most popular and enduring villains on this list, Captain Hook has made numerous TV and movie appearances since the original Peter Pan movie in 1953. Despite being one of the few Disney villains to lack any supernatural abilities of his own, Hook has been a thorn in Peter Pan's side for decades, forever seeking revenge for the loss of his left hand. The pirate's past remained largely a mystery for many years until just recently, when the Jake and the Never Land Pirates TV show revealed tragic aspects of Hook's childhood. As a youngster, Hook was trained by his mother Mama Hook (great name!), so that he could eventually replace her as captain of the pirates. However, he struggled and so ended up spending most of his childhood alone and unhappy. Hook's tragic background could be the perfect set up for a live action origin movie, exploring the reasons behind his seemingly callous nature. His relationship with Smee could also be depicted in further detail, after their initial meeting was touched upon in the Tinkerbell movie Pirate Fairy. Pirates of the Caribbean was a huge hit for Disney so the studio would have to be careful with this one, establishing a strong identity for a Hook film so that the two would not be compared unfavorably. Dream Casting: Nathan Fillion Dustin Hoffman was excellent as Hook in the '90s Spielberg film, but it's time he was recast, so we'll say that Nathan Fillion would be the best choice for the role. Fillion has a swashbuckling charm that would endear the classic villain to new audiences and would help us sympathise with the character's background more. Don't believe he can do it? Check out the TV show Firefly and the movie adaptation Serenity to see Fillion excel in a charismatic yet morally ambiguous role.
