Maleficent: 10 Other Disney Villains Who Deserve Their Own Movies

5. Jafar - Aladdin

Arguably, Jafar deserves a position in the top five for that pencil moustache alone, but this classic Disney villain cemented his place as one of the best by becoming an omnipotent genie in the first Aladdin film. After being trapped in a lamp, Jafar returned in the imaginatively titled sequel called Return of Jafar, where he plotted revenge against Aladdin and vowed once again to become the ruler of Agrabah. Little is given away about Jafar's past in either of the films he appeared in, so an origin movie would have the freedom to take any direction it desires. Some deleted scenes from the first Aladdin implied that Jafar may have grown up impoverished on the streets of Agrabah, much like Aladdin, so it would be fascinating to explore the initial parallels between the two characters and see how their lives ultimately branched off into such different directions. Jafar's origin movie could then bridge the gap to Aladdin by following Jafar work his way up the ranks, eventually becoming Grand Vizier to the Sultan. Jasmine could feature as a younger princess and the Sultan would be a prominent figure, ordering Jafar around and being a general buffoon. And then there's Iago! Who does't want to see more of everyone's favorite reformed talking parrot? Dream Casting: Naveen Andrews The American fantasy spin off show Once Upon A Time in Wonderland has been cancelled after one season, freeing up the actor who plays Jafar in the show for a new origin movie. Naveen Andrews has already proved he can pull off the part, so with a decent script and a movie sized budget, he'd excel in this role.
