9. The Build and The Hype Were Extraordinary
The ads and promotion for Man Of Steel began nearly a year ago at the Mecca of all things pop culture: Comic-Con. A Man Of Steel panel was held at Comic-Con in the summer of 2012 and an extended Man Of Steel trailer was shown, giving our first solid look at footage from the film. And so began the Man Of Steel juggernaut of what was really a fantastic promotional run. And don't be dismissive of a successful marketing campaign: great promotion generates great interest, and in this day and age of up-to-the-second information via constant internet connectivity, there's no stone to be left unturned; Warner Bros did an amazing job generating interest and increasing awareness of this film. On the heels of this well-received Comic-Con footage came two teaser trailers, both with the same scenes of brief and appended footage from the Comic-Con trailer, but both with different narrators: Jonathan Kent and Jor-El. Each father had something very different to say, but the end results were both hair-raising and chill-inducing. These trailers would be the first and only looks we would have at what was to be this new Superman film for the next 6 months, but they were nonetheless mind-blowing cinematics and they set the bar, and interest, very high for Snyder's new film.
