MAN OF STEEL Could Be Influenced By Mark Waid's Superman: Birthright?

Brendon Connelly at Bleeding Cool makes a compelling argument for the following synopsis at The Baseline Studio System, being the official logline for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel;
A young reporter named Clark Kent roams the world covering various news stories. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, he returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be.
Seems logical and more or less a slightly more detailed version of what we have heard before, basically writer David Goyer's attempt to Batman Begins-asize the Superman character. Also, it would seem to be exactly the same plot as Superman: Birthright, a 12 issue comic mini-series written by Mark Waid that has perhaps influenced his take on the material. In that story, Superman attempts to stop an alien invasion from Kryptonian beings, which is where Michael Shannon's General Zod could feature. Lex Luthor is also a character in the story, though there's been no official word that he will be in this movie. Anyway Zack Snyder likes to make all his Superman decisions on a Sunday, so there's a fair chance something might go down tomorrow...
