Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 New Villains To Watch Out For In 2018
5. Bushmaster
Appearing In: Luke Cage
The second of the two new villains emerging in Luke Cage's life this year is John McIver, a character first introduced in comics back in the late '70s that took up the mantle of Bushmaster. He clashed with Luke, Iron Fist, Misty Knight and others throughout his appearances, but ultimately his defeat opened the door for his younger brother to become the second Bushmaster.
When it was announced that actor Mustafa Shakir would be taking on the role of Bushmaster, the character was described as a charismatic leader, one out for vengeance, and it's likely that he'll be stepping in to shake things up not just for Luke but for Mariah Dillard and Shades, the current power players of Harlem. Considering his mere alias carries on the snake theme set forth by Cottonmouth and Diamondback, he's certainly got ties to their whole operation that will come to light.
With the second season of Jessica Jones first up to bat for 2018's new seasons of the Netflix shows, the focus hasn't yet turned to Luke Cage. A trailer is still a while off, which means we'll have to wait to get a glimpse of Nightshade and Bushmaster in action and start forming a clearer picture of how they'll fit in, but hopefully one or both can clear the bar Cottonmouth set back in season one and become unforgettable villains in the process.
