Marvel Cinematic Universe: 15 Dumb Assumptions Made By Asgardians

4. Thor Believing That Odin Was Dead - (Thor)

Loki Earth Clothes During Thor's exile on Earth, after he had found Mjolnir in the New Mexico desert and failed to lift it, he was interrogated in the makeshift facility built around it by S.H.I.E.L.D (specifically Agent Phil Coulson). Whilst Coulson briefly left the room, Loki appeared to Thor to tell him that, thanks largely to Thor's own rash and irresponsible behaviour, Odin's body couldn't stand the stress and had given up, essentially meaning that Thor had inadvertently killed him. Loki did this to keep Thor on Earth so that he could eventually take the Asgardian throne himself. How Thor couldn't see through this is unfathomable. Surely, if he had killed his own father - the king of Asgard - he would have been taken to Asgard and punished. Surely his mother would at least have wanted to speak to him to question him. It doesn't make sense, going by consistent Asgardian principles, that the only punishment Thor would receive for killing the king - his own father - would be to be left on Earth. It's amazing that he assumed that would be the case, based on the ramblings of his dodgy adopted brother.
