At the time, The Avengers was viewed as the big finale of the whole MCU exercise, delivering on Nick Fury's promise from Iron Man's post-credits scenes. Now, with the series going on to much bigger and more ambitious things, it's clear this was just the first part of a much bigger, more exciting story.
