Marvel Phase 3: Predicting The Villains

2. Avengers: Infinity War Part II (2019) - Moondragon

So, the second Infinity War movie... we've got Thanos and probably Nebula, and I've already mentioned how I€™d like the Red Skull to make an appearance in Part I€ and in the previous entry, I€™ve discussed the Black Order. What€™s left that€™s villainous in the cosmic Marvel Universe that€™s free for Part II? Better yet €“ what is there that isn€™t ringfenced as a Fantastic Four or X-Men property and so therefore illegal to co-opt for an MCU project? Assuming that a new deal can€™t be struck as it was for Spider-Man, that rules out the Skrulls, the Shi€™ar, the Phalanx and the Technarchy, Blastaar, Galactus and Annihilus, anything to do with the Negative Zone€ So let€™s go a little wider in our efforts to find an all new villain for this latest €“ and possibly last €“ part of the Avengers film franchise. It€™s commonly believed that this second instalment of the Infinity War film will see the Avengers and the Guardians Of The Galaxy finally team up: well, in that case, why not have Moondragon make an appearance? In the comics, Heather Douglas is the human daughter of Drax the Destroyer, a former Avenger and a Guardian Of The Galaxy, rigorously trained to become a shiny headed psychic ninja by space monks. Go ahead and read that back, it€™s pretty sweet. Of course, in the MCU Drax isn€™t now and never was a human being (as it's understood so far), so his daughter would presumably need to be the same race as he is. At this stage, he believes her dead and is hellbent on revenge against Thanos€ but Thanos has form for taking on foster daughters from races he subjugates, and bringing them up in a life of hatred and genocide. What if, in the MCU, Moondragon is one of Gamora and Nebula€™s €˜sisters€™, raised to be a killer by the creature that killed her mother? Casting is a little more problematic, as once again it necessitates finding a name actress that doesn€™t mind having a shaved head. In this case, why not ask Carey Mulligan? She€™s a great actress who regularly has short hair anyway€ less to grow back, right?
