Marvel Post-Credit Scenes - Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Guardians Of The Galaxy

Guardians Of The Galaxy Howard The Duck
Marvel

Howard The Duck was once Marvel's biggest embarrassment, an eternal mar on the comic company's hopes of making movies. Almost three decades on from the major misfire and although the film hasn't got any better (in fact, it's got even worse with age), but the meteoric rise of Marvel Studios has meant the ducking awful movie (damn you autocorrect) doesn't really matter any more. So of course the post-credits scene of the obscenely confident Guardians Of The Galaxy would troll all the fans with an appearance from the satirical Anatidae just to point out how far they've come. Obvious really.

Confusing the less aware fans and eliciting groans from those who only know of Howard from that movie, it's a smart subversion of the usual set-up sequence, very much in keeping with the tone of the film. On a practical level, there's unlikely to actually be a Howard movie at any point in the future - the 1986 mistake may no longer be relevant, but its effect on the character can't be understated - which is something of a of shame; he's not as goofy as the Lucas-endorsed version suggests.

This isn't just a jokey moment though - in the background you can briefly glimpse what appears to be the hatched cocoon of Adam Warlock, laying groundwork for the Cosmic star's appearance at some point down the line.
