His best mate
Ben Affleck made the successful transition from movie star to acclaimed filmmaker a few years back and is now considered one of the top directors in the Warner Bros family, and now
Matt Damon is hoping to follow in his footsteps. Having worked with the likes of acclaimed directors such as Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, The Coens, Steven Soderbergh and Paul Greengrass among other A-listers - Damon will bring everything he's learned to the absurdly long-winded
Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses. Damon is
attached to lead and potentially direct the film as his behind the camera debut, based on a screenplay by
Matthew Aldrich (Cleaner) that WB bought in a fierce bidding war this week that included J.J. Abrams at Paramount and ironically Damon himself back by private financiers. So it's little surprise WB have come directly to Damon to lead the film as a man who goes on the lam with his daughter, his accomplice on a three-state crime spree. Sounds fun but we should note this one could be a little ways off yet as Damon wants to mould the script into a starring vehicle for himself and he has Neil Blomkamp's
Elsyium to film this year before moving onto Soderbergh's
Liberace next summer.
