Matt won't be FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL!!!

Read my thoughts on the funniest movie in years and also I wanna tell you about the Apatow crew's newest greenlit project which reunites Jonah Hill and Russell Brand!

Last night I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall at my local cinema and it's hands down the funniest film I've seen in years. It might be the funniest movie since The 40 Year Old Virgin. Remember when you saw Superbad and those first 15 minutes were absolutely killing your stomach because you just couldn't stop laughing and then it kinda went a bit south for the rest of the film only peaking back up again in a few brief moments? Well Forgetting Sarah Marshall is hilarious for about 90% of the time. It's clunky, very badly cut together but man... if Jason Segel doesn't win you over with the almost unforgivably pathetic character he has written for himself, or if you don't fall badly in love with Mila Kunis everytime she smiles or just plain laugh out loud at least a million times then I don't know what will do it for ya. It's not as poignant as Knocked Up but I say the future of the rom-com is looking extremely bright with this Judd Apatow crew and it's a resurrecting movement in cinema which is extremely welcomed. For too long women have enjoyed exclusive female rom-com's that would star the likes of Meg Ryan and Sandra Bullock... it's nice for the guys to have their own set of films for a change.

Anyway onto today's news from Variety... Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nick Stoller will scribe and helm the Universal Pictures comedy Get Him to the Greek, which is being produced by Judd Apatow and will re-team the director with Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. The movie is described as a very dirty take on Almost Famous and was born out of the fact that Stoller believes the guys showed wicked chemistry in Marshall (and they really do)...
Stoller has been tapped to write and direct the laffer, which centers on a fresh-out-of-college insurance adjuster (Hill) who is hired to accompany an out-of-control rock star (Brand) from London to a gig at L.A.'s Greek Theater.
Sounds pretty awesome. They are both really funny guys and surprisingly Russell Brand was good in Marshall. He has an extreme confidence about himself and easy going charm which I think makes up for any lack of acting ability that he clearly has. He has kind of played himself too in the movie which probably helped. Go and see Forgetting Sarah Marshall if you get a chance over the next few weeks. Don't under-estimate a film that can make you laugh ALL of the way through.
