2. Xu Shang-Chi
The titular hero of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was one of the MCU’s strongest character debuts since Spider-Man and Black Panther came onto the scene in Civil War. His everyman feel was a nice contrast to his true nature as a skilled fighter and possible heir apparent to one of the world’s most dangerous terrorist groups.
Simu Liu brings an easygoing charm to the character, as well as an incredible physicality in the action setpieces. Right off the bat, it is apparent that Shang is one of the world’s deadliest fighters and he takes part in some of the most thrilling hand-to-hand fights in the MCU.
In addition to this, his desire to step out of his father’s shadow was relatable and made his interactions with him all the more emotionally charged and impactful.
Now that he wields the Ten Rings, Shang Chi is poised to be a powerhouse in the MCU and a major player moving forward in Phase 4 and beyond.
