MCU: 10 Biggest Reveals From D23
2. The Return Of The Leader
You could have brought back anyone from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even anyone from the Captain America series in general, and they would have struggled to keep the limelight on them after the announcement of a character thought to be done with the MCU for the last decade and a half.
The franchise has made a habit of revisiting old villains over the last few years, with Ronan, Zemo, and a handful of Spider-Man villains making their big screen returns since 2019. In particular, The Incredible Hulk appears to be acknowledged more and more by Marvel Studios recently, with Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky returning in She-Hulk.
In 2024, Blonsky will be joined in the ranks of returning Incredible Hulk characters by none other than Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns AKA The Leader. This is huge news, as arguably the most infamous loose thread across the entire near 15 year franchise will finally be picked up again.
The tease back in 2008 was that Sterns’ head could be seen beginning to bulge after a confrontation with the Abomination, clearly indicating the character’s change into his villainous persona from the comics, the Leader. After what will be 16 years of waiting, this will finally pay off in New World Order.
