MCU: 10 Characters Destined To Leave The Franchise In Phase 5
2. Spider-Man
I hope this isn't the case.
The uneasiness that is the dispute between Disney and Sony was the reason why in August 2019 it didn't look like a third Spider-Man solo outing was on the table. The rights and ownership of such a beloved character still rest on Sony's lap, and even though the past collaborations have been a success, Disney would much prefer they hold all the cards than Sony.
When negotiations restarted they came to a decidedly better conclusion with one more solo film and a part-appearance in one other MCU film. The likelihood of Spider-Man appearing in anything else after another Team-Up movie is slim, since Sony are gearing up for their own expanded universe with Venom and Morbius.
This at least means we probably won't see the end of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, as he is traded over to Sony for the inevitable Sinister Six film, but not being part of the MCU does mean that potentially we won't see the web-head swinging with Blade or the Fantastic Four anytime soon.
Here's hoping the two studios can come to an amicable, longer agreement. But if they don't, prepare to see Spider-Man swing out of one franchise and into another.
