6. The Film Encouraged Violence

Like the Iron Man movies and Thor: Ragnarok, The Dark World's production encouraged improvisation. As an exampled of why that possibly wasn't a good idea, Kat Dennings improvised calling Erik Selvig "banana balls" and for some reason it was deemed worthy of inclusion.

The improvisation did have some positives though, such as Natalie Portman suggesting that Jane Foster would slap Thor when she first sees him because he had been gone so long and never bothered to say hello to her when he came to Earth for the Avengers situation.

The slapping scene had to be shot several times, because Portman's slaps were too fake (she was trying not to hurt Chris Hemsworth). After thirty takes or so, she gave up the pretence and starting slapping him for real. And when it came to punching Loki later in the film, she nailed it in five takes and actually hit him. That's true method.
