MCU: 10 Possible Uses Of The Multiverse In Phase 4 (And Beyond)
3. Marvel's Yearly Movie Slate Could Be Split Between Different Realities
The MCU has released three movies per year for the past several years, and will mostly stick to this release schedule going forward, barring just two in 2020.
Although, if the multiverse is going to be a key factor going forward, then it might get tricky - with only three movies each year - to tell the amount of stories Marvel Studios wants to tell. They might actually decide to bump their releases up to four: a February release, an April/May release, a July release, and an October/November release.
However many movies they end up doing, the question of how exactly Marvel Studios plans to brand their alternate-universe films (should they actually choose to make films set on different Earths) is an important one. One option could be to tweak the titles: The Avengers: Earth-833, or Earth-616: The Fantastic Four, for example. That does sound quite clunky though, so they probably won't go down that route.
A simple solution could be for the studio to divide their yearly releases between separate worlds. The first two movies of the year could be Earth-616 stories, while the next two could be set somewhere else. Constantly jumping between realities could get confusing really fast, so whatever happens, Feige is going to have to be careful about how he communicates the multiverse to the audience.
