MCU: 10 Supernatural Characters Who Will DOMINATE Phase 5
2. Moon Knight
Moon Knight has often erroneously been labelled an ersatz Batman by fans, and that really isn't fair. Although Marc Spector was clearly inspired by DC's Dark Knight, years of new material have reiterated that the character is more than just a cape-clad vigilante dishing out beatings every night - they're actually a multilayered figure laden with tragedy.
The character, who was first created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32, is set to star in their own TV show on Disney+ sometime in the future, where he'll be portrayed by Oscar Isaac. Moon Knight has dissociative identity disorder in the comics and that's visible in his crimefighting, where he's assumed different vigilante personas.
At the character's core though is a heavy focus on the supernatural. Moon Knight is "blessed" with his powers thanks to the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, who at various stages has either been a legitimate cosmic presence or a figment of Marc's own imagination, and the character has often come up against supernatural foes, most famously Dracula, in an encounter that's nowhere near as wonderful as the meme that implies the vampire owes him money. (Which I really hope he does in live action.)
In terms of the character's wider connections to the Marvel universe, Spector has been both a member of the West Coast Avengers and the Secret Avengers, so don't expect him to fight supernatural threats all on his own forever.
