MCU: 10 Truly Insane Crossovers We Need To See
1. Live Action Meets Animation
We've already raised the possibility of live action versions of What if...? characters meeting up with their canonical counterparts in Marvel feature films, but what if they never had to make the transition from animation to live action?
Marvel is part of the Disney media behemoth with its wide assortment of animated characters from Pete's Dragon to Elsa. Disney itself helped pioneer mixing animation with live action all the way back in 1940s with Walt Disney's Fantasia. Recently, the charming-yet-sinister Miss Minutes showed that animated characters can appear in MCU live action shows without ruining fans' suspension of disbelief.
The House of Mouse can go full Kingdom Hearts up in this piece. The beloved game series saw iconic Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck team up with Final Fantasy characters on an epic quest. What's holding Disney back from pulling off a similar stunt with the MCU?
While some fans may get turned off by making the MCU too kid-friendly, if done right bringing in characters from cinematic universes outside of Marvel could keep the long-running franchise fresh by giving fans something they never knew they wanted. Besides, the toy sales from an onscreen pairing of Elsa and Scarlet Witch alone might justify pulling the trigger on crossing the proverbial streams of animation and live action.
The possibilities seem endless and the only limit is what Marvel's team of creatives dream up. The future of the franchise might look very, very weird and awesome indeed.
