Alfred Molina's return as Doc Ock in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer represented a fist-pumping moment of sheer geek ecstasy. Sam Raimi's series of Spider-Man films from the early 2000s laid the groundwork for the massive Marvel hits that followed; although, the general awfulness of Spider-Man 3 soured many fans on Raimi's Spider-verse.

Raimi publicly griped about how Sony's interference tarnished his vision for his trilogy capper. Fans of the series hoped Raimi would get a shot at redemption in Spider-Man IV, but Sony opted to reboot the franchise altogether with 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man.

Now that enough time has passed and the sour aftertaste of Peter's emo dance sequence has been washed away, fans are eager to see the original big screen Spider-Man get a more-fitting send-off.

Alfred Molina is back as Doc Ock, with the No Way Home trailer hinting that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin will also return. But, most intriguing of all, rumors are swirling that Tobey Maguire will don his Spidey suit once again to cross paths with Tom Holland's iteration of the character in No Way Home.

Sam Raimi is currently at work on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it's not hard to imagine the powers that be at Marvel will give him a chance to direct Tobey Maguire in at least a post-credit sequence, or, better yet, a subplot in Doctor Strange 2.
