MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Thor: The Dark World
5. Frigga's Funeral Is Surprisingly Great
Though the death of Thor and Loki's mother Frigga feels a little rushed and robbed of its full emotional potential, the subsequent funeral sequence is actually pretty damn great.
Frigga gets a traditional Asgardian funeral, being sailed out to the edge of the land and her pyre set alight, before her essence ascends to the stars. It's visually impressive, beautifully scored by Brian Tyler and actually sets up some solid character development for Loki, who ultimately seems far more affected by it all than Thor.
It's a shame Alan Taylor didn't linger on the scene for a little longer, but it's still a welcome break from the more conventional superhero goings-on, and even musters up some actual, honest emotion.
