MCU: 12 Worst Casting Decisions In Marvel Movies
5. Tim Roth – Emil Blonsky
While we’re still on the subject of The Incredible Hulk, let’s turn our attention to Brit actor Tim Roth who played the Hulk’s main adversary Emil Blonsky and his serum pumped alter ego Abomination (basically a more evil-looking, slightly taller version of Hulk).
Russian in name and birthplace only, he’s a special-ops commander with a distinctly Cockney accent which is presumably a product of Roth not being able to master a Soviet twang. Physically he doesn’t look the part either.
A rather diminutive guy to start with, Roth sports impractically floppy locks that are constantly obscuring his firing scope and looks like a fish out of water amongst General Thunderbolt Ross and his gun-toting US soldiers.
His performance is a far cry from the battle-hardened veteran the comic books call for and quickly devolved into stereotypical evil Englishman. Chopping back some of that ridiculous hair and at least attempting a Russian accent wouldn’t have gone amiss.
