MCU: 12 Worst Casting Decisions In Marvel Movies

6. Liv Tyler – Betty Ross

Thor Heimdall Idris Elba
Universal Pictures

While Liv Tyler is presumably a lovely person, there’s just one thing wrong with her choice of career: she’s just not that good an actress. In her twenty-some years in the film industry, she’s played only slightly different versions of her usual shtick – wispy, breathy and almost always on the verge of tears.

Case in point: her role as Bruce Banner’s love interest Betty Ross in Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk. She’s as flimsy, whiny and tear-jerked as ever and shares about as much chemistry with her co-star Edward Norton as a block of wood. Though, considering what the aforementioned issues with Norton, the lack of chemistry thing might be understandable.

Ang Lee’s non-MCU Hulk might be the lesser loved film of the two, but there’s no denying that it did a much better job with casting Jennifer Connelly as Betty Ross.
