MCU: 20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Avengers

7. How Did Bruce Regain Control?

As his time in the MCU has gone on, Bruce Banner has developed a stronger handle on managing the Other Guy. He and Natasha came up with a system to calm the Hulk down after a rampage, before he was able to put the brains and brawn together in creating Smart Hulk.

When he was first called in by Nick Fury to find the Tesseract however, he didn't have such control. He was able to turn into the Hulk whenever he wanted, though he wasn't always able to stop the transition, but what about turning back?

During his first rampage on the Helicarrier, Hulk was hurled to the Earth by a plane explosion and woke up as Bruce once again. This makes enough sense, but what about after the Battle of New York? One minute he is fighting off hoards of Chitauri, the next he is calmly eating shawarma as Bruce Banner.

There's no way that he and Natasha figured out the whole 'sun's getting low' trick yet, and it didn't appear that he was knocked out again, so how did he regain control? If it was this easy to retake the wheel of his mind from the Hulk all along, then surely he could have stopped any rampages from the start, right?
