10. Avengers: Age Of Ultron - Ultron

British MCU Villains
Marvel Studios

The character of Ultron is not to blame for the weird reception Avengers: Age of Ultron received.

As a character within the MCU, he's probably one of the closest to Thanos-level madness and tyrannical ideals than any other villain.

Ultron isn't just a killing robot, he's an embodiment of the mutated manifestation of Tony Stark's ego. His presence is a great representation of what would have happened had Iron Man's ideas been cranked up to eleven.

James Spader's mannerisms and voice work as a soft-spoken but also deeply menacing enemy is something to be praised. And when he's not spouting sinister threats or desperately trying to rationalize extinction-level events on humanity, there's a stuttering charm to him like when he can't remember the word "children" or is trying to soothe Ulysses Klaw after severing his arm.

It's easy to forget Ultron given the number of films in the MCU back catalogue, but let's try to remember that he is a focal villain the heroes faced together and were nearly defeated by.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
