MCU: Every Infinity Saga Villain RANKED

8. Thor: Ragnarok - Hela

British MCU Villains
Marvel Studios

After two solo and two ensemble outings, it looked like a third Thor movie would exhaust audiences. Thankfully, Taika Waititi was around, as was Marvel's Phase 3 approach of just going crazy with the themes and directions of their characters.

Enter Cate Blanchett's villain Hela; sister of Thor (and Loki). I can't help but think if she were in a previous Thor (looking at you Dark World) she would have been poorly handled. She is the Goddess of Death after all, yet in Thor: Ragnarok a sweet spot is found between dangerous and hilarious.

Cate Blanchett is clearly having fun in the role, and it shows in her interactions with the principal cast and in particular Karl Urban's character Skurge.

So what makes her so worthy to be up the list? She's stronger than Thor for one thing. She can resurrect the dead, and summon a giant wolf to do her bidding.

But more importantly her actions are a big game-changer for the God of Thunder going forward; she isn't a one-note villain that appears and leaves as the credits roll.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
