MCU: Every Phase 3 Main Villain Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Ego
Yet another family affair, the little one inch man that saved the Guardians from the Sovereign in Volume 2 turned out to be Ego, Peter Quill's father. Naturally, Quill was skeptical of the man claiming to be his father with not a shred of proof, which also planted seeds of doubt in the audiences' minds.
When Ego's expansion plan was revealed, it wasn't a massive shock to find that he was the villain. Something had to happen as Taserface was never going to be the main antagonist of the movie. Though his plan was very much based around taking over the world, there was enough of a spin on it to make it interesting.
It is Ego's relationship with Peter that makes this villain so interesting. The father/son dynamic that the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy has craved for so long is what leads him to let his guard down.
The biggest reveal from Ego is not that he is the villain, but rather that he planted the cancer that killed Meredith Quill. To Peter, this is even worse than expanding his presence across the entire universe, wiping out all existence.
