Though Sony's Marvel Universe can be easily mocked for its over-reliance on nineties source material, it's important to note that the decade wasn't all that bad for Marvel Comics. While Spider-Man was duking it out with clones aplenty, and Heroes Reborn was remodelling Marvel's heroes in strange, and frankly frightening ways, the House of Ideas' supernatural forces were being granted a new lease of life with Midnight Sons.

The comic, which spotlighted the likes of Ghost Rider, Morbius and Jennifer Kale, didn't last for too long but boasted an interesting enough premise that could easily be made better with an appropriate roster. It was a question artist Greg Smallwood posed to Marvel just over a year ago, with his idea for a Midnight Sons comic having focused on Blade, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider and Moon Knight, among others.

As you can see above, it looks fantastic, and should be sending Marvel's offices into a commotion regarding the future of the MCU.

The Rider and Blade could easily front this new series, and by using Doctor Strange to introduce them, there's already a clear avenue for the group to make their debut.
