MCU Phase 4: 10 Signs It Could Be A Crushing Disappointment
1. There's No Overarching Story
Even as far back as Phase 1, there was an overarching story in the MCU. With the release of Avengers in 2012, the next seven years revolved around Thanos and ultimately culminated with Avengers: Endgame. Heading into Phase 4, there are certainly hints about what comes next, but nothing quite so obvious (or epic).
That could soon change, of course, and while the exploration of the Multiverse and Scarlet Witch's apparent impending breakdown are intriguing, Thanos she ain't!
It's easy enough to get excited about each of the Phase 4 movies and TV shows coming our way, but without any sort of big bad or endpoint, getting invested in this next wave of stories isn't proving to be a particularly easy task.
This could still change, but as we mentioned a little earlier, having no Avengers movie on the horizon makes it feel like the MCU is being fleshed out, but not necessarily heading anywhere meaningful (at least not yet).
