5. Kang
Fantasy Casting: Joaquin Phoenix
Not the Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror villain, but instead the time travelling Conquerer. Although Disney do seem to own every property going these days, they have enough Marvel characters that a Simpsons crossover isn’t required quite yet.
Kang is an interesting character to set against Marvel’s current crop, as he has no superhuman abilities, but as a time traveler does have access to 40th Century technology. Even Wakanda would be dwarfed by his technological superiority.
With this tech comes advanced battle armour to make up for his regular human strength, and his Rama-Tut alter ego has a power sapping ray gun to cause more roadblocks for the heroes.
With access to weaponry from any era, Kang the Conquerer would definitely keep the Avengers on their toes. The Reality Stone was only utilised briefly by Thanos; Kang offers much more creativity.
If his Joker origin story gives Joaquin Phoenix a taste for comic book movies, he’d be a brilliant Kang. Famously hard to tie down, he might resist a recurring picture deal, but his ability to be treacherous, cruel, arrogant, manipulative and highly intelligent means he’d surely be one of the first phone calls Marvel makes.
