MCU Phase 4: 8 Major Comics That Could Inspire Its Story

Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.

While it's all too likely that many a fan are dreading the implementation of Secret Invasion, owing to the storyline itself - well - not being all that good, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion at this stage that it'll feature in the MCU in some way or another. They shouldn't fret too much though, because while the actual comic itself failed to deliver on its Invasion of the Body Snatchers-style premise, we've already seen the MCU turn demonstrably weaker comics into compelling onscreen material - just look at Civil War if you need anymore convincing.

Either way, with the inclusion of the Skrulls coming in next year's Captain Marvel, we can expect Marvel to seed a Secret Invasion-style storyline for Phase 4. Will this effectively play chicken with the audience's faith? Perhaps (no one wants to discover their favourite character has been an imposter all along), but there is scope to make this particular extraterrestrial incursion a compelling story, given the deception doesn't run too deep.

Just, y'know, don't go making Black Widow a Skrull or anything. That'd be weird.
