MCU Spider-Man 4: 8 Past Clues To What Could Happen Next

1. Kevin Feige Says That Spider-Man Will "Cross Cinematic Universes"

Spider-Man Morbius

The above quote is something that Feige said in 2019, shortly after Sony and Disney kissed, made up, and agreed to make another solo Spidey movie set within the MCU (which ended up being No Way Home).

It's a comment that many people have forgotten about - understandable, since two years is a lifetime on the internet - despite its potentially huge ramifications.

Here's what Feige said, in full:

"Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero, whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

So what might this mean? Well, if we take Feige's comment at face value, it means that Spidey will appear in both the Sony-verse and the MCU going forward.

Maybe he'll show up for Avengers movies (and other big MCU crossovers), but his solo movies will now be set within the Sony-verse, alongside characters like Kraven, Morbius, and Venom. And maybe that will start with Spider-Man 4?

Though it's somewhat unclear which characters exist within which cinematic universes (largely due to Spider-Man graffiti and Adrian Toomes/Vulture appearing in the Morbius trailer), what we do know is that there's definitely some sort of divide - a divide that, as per Feige, Spider-Man has the ability to straddle.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
