MCU: What Happened To Everyone Who Held The Mind Stone?
3. Captain America
After Scott Lang showed up in Avengers: Endgame, he provided the means by which Thanos' snap could be undone: time travel. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as going back in time and stopping Thanos, the team had to retrieve the Infinity Stones from the timeline, reset everything, and then later return them.
The events that play out tell how Hydra got their hands on the Scepter and the Mind Stone in the first place, and it's up to Captain America to retrieve it. He succeeded in doing so by pretending to sympathize with their plight thanks to a quick, "Hail, Hydra" spoken in an elevator.
He didn't then wield the Mind Stone as a weapon as his only interest was returning it to the present so it could be used to undo the snap, but in walks his past self, and Captain America got into a fight with someone who won't back down... himself!
As the two heroes fought one another for the Scepter, Cap was forced to use it against himself. He placed it against his past self's chest and got him to lay down. He then took the Scepter, along with the Mind Stone, back to the present where it was picked up by the next person to wield it.
