8. Emma Frost - New X-Men

Of all the characters destined to play a huge role in the future of X-Men, Emma Frost is the most deserving. The character has been at the epicentre of the team's books since the conclusion of the Dark Phoenix saga, and having undertaken the switch from hero to villain, managed to become one of the team's most pivotal members.

Frost's time with the X-Men came to a tragic close in the wake of the Avengers vs X-Men event, but while she was on the team she managed to imbue the X-books with a healthy dose of melodrama, a pragmatic rationale and a somewhat excellent wardrobe - at least when she was wearing it.

The Frost of the comics is commonly depicted in underwear and her cloak, and to call it a divisive aesthetic would be framing things lightly. However, whether Emma's the White Queen or the Black King, there's no denying that one of her best looks came during New X-Men, when she swapped her cape for a white jacket.

There are a whole host of ways Marvel could reimagine Frost for this new generation of X-Men, but ensuring the character remains stylish and confident should be their main priority.
