Michael Bay – Ranking His Films From Worst To Best
8. Transformers: Age Of Extinction
Age Of Extinction is an instant improvement on the previous two movies because Shia LaBeouf is nowhere in sight, and Mark Wahlberg is his replacement. While the movie is supposed to be a soft reboot of the series, not much has changed. The action scenes are a bit more coherent but it still has the unlikable characters, horrible sense of humour (nothing like an elaborate statutory rape joke to make people guffaw) and an ass paralysing runtime. It even manages to take an awesome, silly concept like fire breathing Transformer dinosaurs and make them boring. They arrive way too late anyway, so people will have already zoned out by the time they appear. The film also shamelessly panders to the lucrative Chinese market, and while Kelsey Grammer and Stanley Tucci are fun additions to the cast, theres precious little they can do to make the film work. Bay has recently signed on to direct another Transformers movie, promising it will be his last; a promise that is starting to ring very hollow indeed.
