6. Transformers
Reinventing the Transformers for the 21st century was no easy task, so the studio behind it needed a creative visionary to guide it to success. The man they got was Michael Bay, who's formula was to take the original cartoon, smear it with orange and teal, add a sexy girl and film a load of explosions. The result was the best Transformers movie to date, which doesnt say a hell of a lot. The story follows an irritating teenager (LaBeouf) who tries to impress a girl at school with his new car, only to find himself in the middle of an intergalactic war. The scenes of carnage between giant robots would be more enjoyable if they could be told apart because, in the final product, they're just interchangeable bits of metal clanging against each other. The characters are annoying, the story barely exists and even the action is underwhelming, with the novelty of the machines hitting each other growing old fast. Still, there are moments of pleasure to be found in Transformers, and at the very least the movie is way more fun than the sequels.
