Miles Morales May Be Getting His Own Spider-Man Movie After All
Sony's animated feature from the LEGO Movie directors may swerve with the lead.
Good news Miles Morales fans: the fan favourite alternate Spider-Man could well be the focus of Sony's upcoming animated Spidey feature, set to debut in 2018.
The film comes from the LEGO Movie's directing team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and while it won't be set in the MCU, it seems Sony might consciously be avoiding making their own competition by changing the lead from Peter Parker.
Heroic Hollywood are reporting the story, which is likely to thrill fans who realise that it's unlikely he's going to appear in the MCU for a while. There was no way Kevin Feige was going to undermine his new Peter Parker by bringing the competition into lose proximity. Not when the franchise hasn't yet began.
It's actually a pretty inspired move by Sony if it's true, as Morales is a major fan favourite and it's about time we saw a deviation away from the Parker-centric universe. Plus, if Lord and Miller can turn him into a box office hit, it's bound to make it more likely that he'll debut on the live action side soon.
The animated Spidey flick lands on December 21st, 2018.
