8. A Stellar Voice Cast
Animated films have always gone for big names to appeal to the adult contingent, hooking in a long list of major stars. While their first film may have been headed by Tom Hanks, the biggest start of the day, Pixar have since become adept at finding not just big names, but ones who fully embody the role. Monsters University naturally inherits a lot of the voice actors from the first film, which in itself brings much joy; John Goodman and Billy Crystal may not have seemed the best choice for their roles initially, but their characterisation made the central duo that little bit more believable. Joining the old boys is Kelsey Grammer, replacing James Coburn as industrialist Henry J Waternoose. We've seen voice actors replaced with both respect and humour before, most notably with Slinky in Toy Story (Blake Clark replaced his friend Jim Varney for the third instalment) and with Grammers experience in the medium (Stinky Pete in Toy Story 2 and a recurring role as the infamous Sideshow Bob in The Simpsons), he should fit in perfectly. And, of course, lucky charm John Ratzenberger will continue his run of appearing in every Pixar film, returning to his role as the surprisingly cuddly Abominable Snowman. Heres hoping well have some light shed on just why he was banished.
