Morbius Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

3. The Laughable Action Sequences

What is any superhero movie without a neat action sequence or two? Sadly Morbius falls at even the small hurdle of delivering basically entertaining action, which in conjunction with silly VFX look like they emerged from another era entirely.

Director Espinosa's flagrant overuse of slow-motion is one thing, serving up a slew of "cool" bullet time-esque moments as Morbius flies around dismantling goons. It was neat 20-something years ago, but we've moved on.

The biggest gaffe, though, is the climactic battle between Morbius and Milo, an at times near-incomprehensible battle full of revoltingly-aged CGI that ends the film on a pathetic whimper.

If you were hoping some fun action could compensate for the leaden script, prepare to be disappointed.
