4. Sloan - Wanted
Wanted can be beat summed up as a 13 year-old boy's adolescent fantasy posing as ingenuitive art. There are snappy visuals in abundance but a distinct lack of characters. It's one of the few films were Freeman appears as a bad guy and to say it doesn't work would be an understatement. The whole piece isn't particularly well acted as James McAvoy never really clicks in the lead and the film contains one of Angelina Jolie's worst performances also, but it's Freeman who stands out as being particularly bad due to the higher standards of expectation. There's a reason Freeman very rarely plays the 'bad guy' as with the exception of the fantastic Gone Baby Gone it never works. None of the actors manage to translate the wit and style that made the comics successful, and this is more of a case of being really disappointed at what Freeman brings to the movie than anything.
