Mother's Day 2013: 10 Movies For Guys To Watch With Their Mums

2. Groundhog Day

Groundhog DayWhy you'll love it: Bill Murray. If you're not down with the Murray then you're not down with anything worthwhile. Stop reading, this is not for you. For the rest of us, I'm sure the movie needs no introduction. It's the perfect blend of broad comedy and Murray's specific comedic talents and sensibilities. Playing a man reliving the same day over and over again leads to some hilarious hijinks. This was the movie that put the film world on notice about Bill Murray, proving he was more than just a funny guy. A comic masterpiece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSVeDx9fk60 Why mom will love it: The same Bill Murray rule applies here. I've been told by several women that Bill Murray reminds them of their own dads. (which is weird because their dads are not funny) The killer crossover move this movie pulls is the seriousness that lies underneath the surface. Murray plays an egotistical ass who's forced to battle his inner demons over and over again until he finally becomes a better man. Moms love lessons and Groundhog Day has a great one to teach all of us. By the end of the movie, Murray has become the man he should have always been and gets the girl of his dreams. Mom, on the other hand, is happy to have watched a movie that made her laugh her face off while also reminding her son to be as good a person as he can.

I'm married and live in New York with my wife and pets. I'm a writer and definitely not a comedian (just ask my wife). I've successfully linked my twitter, goodreads, facebook and google+ pages although the successful aspect of all that is up for debate. I also started my own blog on wordpress and have just finished my first novel, The Violent Winds. Now it's time to try and trick some unsuspecting fool into buying it.
