Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5: Everything You Need To Know
2. We're Back Where It All Began
Using Blomkamp's concept art as the best frame of reference, one unmissable inclusion was that of the iconic and otherworldly vessel the unfortunate crew of the Nostromo happened upon in the first film. Somehow it's been salvaged, and it's now at home somewhere in what's hinted as being the headquarters of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. During the initial flurry of Blomkamp's Instagram posts, the headquarters are shown as a sprawling sci-fi superstructure. In keeping with Ridley Scott's tone of darkness and foreboding, but with the sort modern science-fiction edge that reflects some of the Prometheus sets as well as utilising the advancement in special effects. In Blomkamp's own words the entire concept is a "mental stroll through the world Ridley Scott created", and if the concept art ends up as true reflection of the final product then it's a very faithful stroll indeed. As for the extraterrestrial ship, well it's unclear precisely what role it's going to play in the film but given that it remained full of xenomorph eggs, and we know that it's in someway connected to the space jockey/engineer race, Blomkamp's given himself plenty to work with.
