5. Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth
Directly inspiring Rocksteadys epic Arkham Asylum and City, A Serious House on Serious Earth details a similar story (although admittedly approaches it from an altogether more psychological angle). When Arkhams inmates, seemingly led by The Joker, overthrow the guards, Batman enters and must face a terrifying gauntlet of foes in an attempt to restore order. But, as you can imagine, all is not quite what it seems in the worlds maddest madhouse.
How It Could Work: Forget setting up a new trilogy, or a new arm of the Batman movie franchise for now; this one would make an outstanding singular movie that could examine the Dark Knight in a much more intimate, character displaying depth in the run up to the Justice League movie. And think about this: a Batman movie inspired by the same book that inspired the Rocksteady games? Who wouldnt go and see that?!
Potential Issues: Again, youd run the risk of confusing the plot if you tried to establish too many villains at once. However, do they need establishing, really, if were meeting them for the first time in an asylum for the criminally insane? For instance, they could put Killer Croc in there in some form - a simple patient log scene could establish why hes covered in scales then hes a welcome reference for the comic book fans, and a feasible foe for the cinephiles. Everyones a winner!
