New Star Wars: Rogue One Artwork Shows Off Vader's Red Eyes

How else do you provide a unique slant on an iconic character?

The more observant of you out there likely know that, while Darth Vader's suit is pretty consistent across the original trilogy, there were some subtle changes made to his getup. Perhaps the most noticeable is his eyes, which in the first film have a slightly reddish tint compared to the all-black stare of later films (something Rebels has neatly homaged).

The more we see of the Dark Lord from Rogue One, the more it seems that design element will be carried over; earlier this week a card game showed the first look at the character's mask in relation to the Star Wars Story, and now we have some new artwork from a Pyramid product catalogue which really brings out the colour of his eyes.

Beyond that choice (which here looks menacing rather than 1970s production oversight), this art is actually rather revealing about Vader's part in the plot; he's shadowed by a red hologram readout of the Death Star, which is so far the only location we've seen him in, further chiming with the suggestion he's playing an in-the-shadows part - an extended cameo rather than a primary antagonist role. Which, if he's as menacing as he looks here, is fine with me.
