Next James Bond Film: 10 Predictions For Post-Daniel Craig Era
4. The Series Gets Its First Major Female Villain
It's genuinely surprising that, across more than a half-century of Bond films, we've never really had an outright female villain.
Sure, there's been From Russia with Love's Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya) and The World Is Not Enough's Elektra King (Sophie Marceau), but in terms of front-and-center female baddies who haven't had to share the spotlight, the franchise is bizarrely lacking.
Given that Bond rarely has one-on-one fistfights with the primary antagonists these days, even the "Bond can't hit a woman!" argument doesn't really hold water, so it absolutely feels like the right time for an A-list actress to be handed a beefy villainous role they can sink their teeth into.
It's not like the filmmakers would be lacking for choice, either: Tilda Swinton, Viola Davis, Marion Cotillard, Cate Blanchett, Regina King, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, Helena Bonham Carter, Isabelle Hupert, and Juliette Binoche are all more-than-qualified to do the job.
If No Time to Die suggests a more forward-thinking Bond era is incoming, what could signify true equality more than letting a woman play the primary villain at least once?
