Nicolas Cage: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
And 5 That Sucked...
5. Behmen von Bleibruck - Season Of The Witch (2011)
Here's how Nicolas Cage described what drew him to the role of Behmen von Bleibruck in the dismal 2011 fantasy adventure film Season of the Witch:
I wanted to make a movie that was really scary, play a knight and hang out in the forest, for a few years now, and thats exactly what this movie provided me with.
Cage could have hung out in the forrest and pretended to be a knight in his own time (I'm sure he has), but the this non-scary, non-fun, completely sterile and soulless film is a waste of the audience's. The script and pacing are awful, but it is Cage's completely unremarkable performance, which mainly consists of him standing around and looking a bit sad, is the most disappointing thing about it. On paper, a film with a longhaired Nicolas Cage as a heroic crusader who must go on a taxing journey and have sword fights with evil bastards sounds great but, in practice, it's this. Cage, naturally, received a Razzie Nomination for Worst Actor (he 'lost' to Adam Sandler).
