Before No Time To Die, sendoff wasn’t really an aspect that Bond films would focus on. The cast and characters they played would cycle out frequently whilst Double O Seven continued to save the world. Desmond Llewelyn’s Q is one of the only proper farewells that come to mind other than the passing of Judi Dench’s M. Even though it wasn’t planned to be the end, it really does feel like it once we get a look into Desmond’s eye.

Prior to this, was the passing of Bond’s wife, Tracy. Which for its time wasn’t only just a supremely dark ending for a motion picture, but also and even that would go onto haunt Double O Seven right up until the Brosnan era. And thanks to the excellent score by Hans Zimmer, this past comes back to haunt Bond once more.

Louis Armstrong's "We Have All the Time in the World" was a huge inspiration for Zimmer and lead to him using the leitmotif throughout. At first, this might come as a pleasant nostalgia trip to compliment some similar visuals, but it means so much more. This time around, it is Bond that bites the bullet and not his new lover Madeleine.

For so long he fought for Queen and Country, but in the end, he sacrificed it all for her and his daughter he barely knew.
