Oscars 2014: 5 Things In Defense Of The Academy Awards

1. In The End, Does It Really Matter?

My Cousin Vinny Of course, it matters to some degree, especially to the winners and nominees. After all, the point of awards of any kind is to honor and show thanks towards someone who has shown themselves to be spectacular in some way. And the Oscars are Hollywood's way of saying thanks to those whom they especially appreciated that year. My question isn't if that matters, because of course it does, both to the people sitting in that pavilion, and also to all of us movie fans. No, what I mean by my question is: Does it really matter to you that Marisa Tomei won the Best Supporting Actress Award in 1992? Do you really suffer from that? Does it impair your life in some way? So to summarize my point: Sure, we love watching the awards. We also love complaining about the winners and nominees! It's fun! But sometimes we carry on like their choices harm us. When really, it doesn't matter too much. ...and that's all I have to say about that. Have you something to say? Go ahead and say it in the comments below!
